2010 – Year in Review

Originally, this was supposed to be a letter to stuff into a Christmas card.  That card should have had these pictures on it (click on the pics to see them bigger):

However, that card never materialized.  So I’m posting this here.

Here’s what happened with the Dylan family in 2010:

Eme says “Catcher”!

June 24th, 2009 posted by Mommy Posted in Eme, Poke and Catcher, Videos 2 Comments »

For the last few weeks now, Eme has been copying sounds. She says mama and dada, but it’s hard to tell if she’s saying it or just babbling. She also says “eer-go” which we think is “Here [you] go” which Ruby says to her all the time while handing her toys. But she says that indiscriminately, so we’re pretty sure she doesn’t know what it means.

This morning I sat down by Eme to say hello. She was staring very intently into the corner and trying to talk. I waited and she tried three times, and then said “Catcher!” Finally I looked into the corner where she was staring and there was Catcher, our cat, sleeping under her walker! (Only she could see him, that low to the ground!)

It’s the first time she has deliberately assigned a word to a thing. Of course we grabbed the camera and recorded it a little. The last few times she doesn’t say it quite as clearly, but the first time I turned to Paul and said “I think she just said Catcher?” and then looked and there he was!

Video Madness!

June 19th, 2009 posted by Mommy Posted in Beebo, Eme, Poke and Catcher, Videos No Comments »

Haven’t posted any videos in awhile. Here you go!

Ruby and Eme were supposed to be napping. Instead, they were giggling. A lot. For like an hour. (At the end, the person who yells “quiet!” is Ruby. Please note that Ruby had climbed into Eme’s crib and was making her laugh in the first place.) Visual quality not so good because we were trying to get a glimpse through the window, but the giggling is priceless.

Eme notices Catcher for the first time. This is because he has spent the first 9 months of her life hiding. This is their first encounter. Eme grows bored, and decides to play guitar instead.

Eme is weird. She did this for about an hour. Seriously. Just this. Ruby is copying her, by the way, not the other way around.

The famous Spin Around song.

Getchyer Ruby Photo Albums!

May 21st, 2009 posted by Mommy Posted in Beebo, Eme, Friends & Family, Grandmas & Grandpas, Mommy & Daddy, Poke and Catcher, Special Occasions 1 Comment »

I’m putting together photo albums for each year of the girls’ life. Ruby’s second year was completed first because we got a free 8 x 8 photo book with a limited time offer, and that one was the quickest to make.

If anyone else (grandparents? Aunts?) are interested in having a look, or buying a copy, it’s here:

Ruby’s Second Year

I’m nearly done with Ruby’s First Year (which is much bigger), and I’ll post that soon, too!

It’s Been Too Long

February 11th, 2009 posted by Daddy Posted in Beebo, Eme, Friends & Family, Poke and Catcher, Videos 1 Comment »

It has been over a month since our last post, and I’m sad to say that Poke still hasn’t come home.  Please keep praying that he finds his way home soon.  We have faith that he’s not too far away and that he’s having great adventures.  Hopefully his path comes full circle and brings him back to us.  We miss him.

It has been a long, tough month for the Dylans.  I won’t get into it all here, but most of you know what’s been going on and we just want to say thank you to everyone for the love and support you’ve shown.  In these tough times you really find out who is there for you, and the outpouring of love from our family and friends has been overwhelming.  You are all awesome.  We will still be calling on many of you for your help in the coming weeks and months because we’re not out of the woods yet, but it fills us with great hope when we consider the unbelievable network of people who care about us and can help, even if it’s just with your prayers.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Here are a couple videos that you might enjoy.  The first is Eme laughing her head off at Melissa sneezing.  The second video is about 8 minutes long of Ruby being Ruby.  Enjoy!
