Originally, this was supposed to be a letter to stuff into a Christmas card.  That card should have had these pictures on it (click on the pics to see them bigger):

However, that card never materialized.  So I’m posting this here.

Here’s what happened with the Dylan family in 2010:

Here are some pictures from Halloween. We all had a great day. We even ran into cousin Annabelle and Ruby’s friend Morgan. The only bummer was when Ruby lost her balloon (not pictured). As we walked up the hill back to where we’d parked, Ruby’s little green balloon drifted away on a slow current of air just ahead of us, going the same direction we were. We had to follow it the whole way. On the bright side, candy.

Melissa’s Going to Africa

October 25th, 2010 posted by Daddy Posted in Mommy & Daddy, Special Occasions 1 Comment »

In case you hadn’t heard. She’s leaving on the 30th of this month and she’ll be gone 22 days. We’re going to miss her while she’s gone.

She’s going for a good cause; to help these kids in Malawi and Uganda: Children of the Nations

Send prayers and/or money, please. We’d prefer mostly prayers, but would accept money in lieu. Thank you.

Some cute kids from Malawi, that remind us of Eme and Ruby: Malawi kids

The Wonderful Month of May

May 28th, 2010 posted by Mommy Posted in Beebo, Eme, Friends & Family, Grandmas & Grandpas, Special Occasions 2 Comments »

So many updates. What’s happened this month? Lots of things!

Ruby did some dancing, and appears to have dislocated her leg.

But then she recovers and gives Eme a kiss.  SMOOK.

We ride the ferry!  Then forget to take pictures for the rest of the day!

It rains a lot.

Except on Mother’s Day!  It’s sunny!

So let’s make faces!

Cousin Elizabeth…

…is a bad influence.

Eme’s first pigtails.

They’re hilarious!

We visit a farm!

Then eat fudgecicles!

And THEN!  It’s Ruby’s 3rd birthday!  It’s PANDEMONIUM!

Kids and presents EVERYWHERE!

You’re not imagining things:  yes, Ruby has wings.

Uncle Rick and Aunt Sue provided the castle, and the Princess clothes.

Swiper, no swiping!  Aw, man!

The end.

We’re Mainlanders Now

April 12th, 2010 posted by Daddy Posted in Beebo, Eme, Friends & Family, Grandmas & Grandpas, Special Occasions, Videos 3 Comments »

As you all know, we are on the mainland now and staying with Grandmas Barb & Carol until we’re back on our feet. It was hard to say goodbye to all our great friends and the beautiful sunny days of Hawaii, but it is great to be here in Poulsbo, WA. We feel surrounded by love here at the Grandmas house, and with Grandpa Mark and Grandma Kay so close and also giving us unfathomable love and support we feel truly at home. Soon the girls will get to see Uncle Rick, Aunt Susie and the Kauffman family, too and I can’t wait for them to get to know each other. We love the Pacific Northwest.

Here are 20 Highlights from our stay so far:
1. Melissa and Ruby in First Class on the flight over. The stewardess not impressed by us at all.
2. The entire Dylan family makes it here safely (Catcher, too!)
3. Passover dinner with Grandma Kay and family – Ruby meeting her astrological twin, Annabelle.
4. bought a “new” car (1987 Jeep Cherokee, 198000 miles) for $650.
5. Ruby and Eme getting to know Grandma and Other Grandma.
6. Dinner at Applebee’s courtesy of Auntie M and Unca J.
7. Actual Mexican food with the McKorkle’s (right here in Poulsbo!).
8. the Dylan girls discovering “fluffy flowers” (dandelions).
9. chilly days and cold nights
10. tons of new toys and cold-weather clothes for the girls
11. the girl’s new bedroom – complete with Manny Ramirez, Ken Griffey and Ichiro! posters on the wall.
12. napping during the day
13. Grandma’s cooking and fully stocked fridge
14. Grandma’s fully stocked beer fridge in the garage
15. walking down by the water, throwing rocks, seeing ducks, hot chocolate
16. walking in the woods with Ruby – seeing a BEAR!
17. Easter with Mar & Blaine (how about that view?!)
18. “eagles” and “rocketships” in the sky
19. Melissa’s shopping trip with Grandma Kay
20. my haircut

Ok, now here is a cute video of the girls playing in the backyard:

I’m going to try to post on this site more often. We’ve put lots of stuff on Facebook, but I’d rather have the cute stories on here, I think. Here’s my favorite recent conversation:

Me, yelling: Ruby Dylan! Stop that right now!
Ruby: I’m not Ruby Dylan.
Me: You are Ruby Dylan.
Ruby: I’m not Ruby Dylan. I’m Paul Dylan. Because I have a cool hat and I’m a superhero.
